Connecticut and Nevada Pass Access MFTs Legislation

By Advocacy

Licensure Portability Advances in Two More States!

This week brought more great news for the MFT community: both Connecticut and Nevada legislatures have passed Access MFTs bills that now await their governors’ signatures.

These important pieces of legislation will allow LMFTs licensed in other states to more easily obtain licensure in Connecticut or Nevada by simply demonstrating that their existing license is in good standing.

In a particularly meaningful update, Nevada’s bill also removes a previous restriction that disqualified LMFTs from portability if they had been investigated but not found in violation—ensuring a fairer and more inclusive process.

AAMFT extends sincere thanks to the Connecticut Association for Marriage and Family Therapy and the many MFT advocates in both states who championed these efforts.

Stay tuned to the AAMFT+ advocacy channel for updates as these bills move to their governors for final approval.
