AAMFT Opens New 2025 MFT Industry Workforce Survey!

By AAMFT Blog

Last week, AAMFT launched its 2025 MFT Industry Workforce Survey. Designed to build upon the insights garnered in the post-COVID survey completed in 2022, this updated survey dives deeply into understanding today’s Marriage and Family Therapist and their clients.

“The MFT industry has drastically changed over the last five years with the explosion of telehealth, the increased interest in multi-state licensure, the addition of MFTs to Medicare, and the huge demand for mental health services in many parts of our country,” shared AAMFT CEO, Chris Michaels. “We are seeing new legislative and judicial challenges impacting our profession. New technologies are emerging and with that, questions around ethical usage and implementation. This research is vital to our work in advocacy and to ensuring the Association is addressing the needs of our members.”

AAMFT encourages licensed MFTs and individuals familiar with or interested in the MFT profession, including students, to complete this 15-minute survey to help shape the future of the MFT profession. AAMFT uses this information to help guide its strategic priorities and resources.

AAMFT is collecting data from a wide pool of participants to ensure they have the most complete set of information to better understand key areas, such as:

  • MFT training trends
  • Focuses and specializations
  • MFT client profiles
  • Business practices
  • Opportunities, needs, and challenges with an MFT career
  • And more!

The 2025 MFT Industry Workforce Survey closes in early April with findings expected in summer 2025.
