Access MFTs Bills on the Move

By Advocacy

Following our portability win in Arkansas, several other Access MFTs bills have been on the move in state sessions. Progress includes:

  • In Nevada, AB 450 passed out of the House and was transferred to the Senate. The bill removes unnecessary barriers for out-of-state applicants for expedited licensure by endorsement. It is currently awaiting a vote from the Senate committee and then will go to the full Senate. Thank you to AAMFT members Ashia McReynolds and Dominique Rice for their supportive testimony.
  • In Connecticut, HB 7081 passed the full House unanimously and will next move to the Senate. The bill would allow out-of-state LMFTs with an unencumbered license to apply for expedited licensure in Connecticut, utilizing their existing license as verification.
  • In North Carolina, HB 727 passed successfully out of the House Health Committee. The bill would reduce the years of experience requirement for licensure by endorsement from five to two years.

Many state legislatures are extremely busy during this period of the year. For up-to-the-minute updates on Access MFTs and other MFT-related bills, subscribe to our advocacy channel on AAMFT+ or follow AAMFT on social platforms.
